|
| |
| Your Internet browser: Internet Explorer;
version 5.0 or greater will work best. You may also use Netscape 4.1 (or
greater) or other browsers, as long as they were developed in or after 2002. If
you are having trouble reading the text, select “view” and “text size” on your
browser, and increase the size of the font until it is comfortable for you to
view.
|
| |
| Registering for the first time: In
registering, you must provide us with the email account you will use during the
application process. This will serve as your login name and your primary
contact address for communication. Once you provide a login password, please
write it down in an easy-to-remember location. All application information you
send and receive is encrypted to ensure privacy. (For further information,
consult the Mansfield Foundation’s Privacy Policy.)
When you are through using this system, make sure you completely exit your
Internet browser to ensure that you are logged off from the portal. The “Logoff
Site” button is on the menu bar on the left.
|
| |
| Returning users: You will need to “log in”
each time you wish to work on your application or to download materials. To log
in, enter your login name (your preferred email address) and your password.
This site allows you to fill out your application over multiple sessions.
Please remember to save your information frequently during the application
process, allowing you to return and make changes at a later date.
|
| |
| Supporting documents and forms: The online
application does not constitute the only material you must submit to apply to
the Mansfield Fellowship Program. Instructions and other forms (Agency
Authorization Form, Financial Information Form, Personal Reference Form) that
must be filled out with each application have been provided for download.
Please select “Download Forms, Instructions and Guidelines” on the menu bar to
download copies of all required documents.
|
| |
| Filling out your application: The various
sections of your application (e.g., contact information, education, employment,
etc.) are listed in the menu bar to the left of each application entry screen.
You may use these buttons to navigate the sections of your application. Please do not go beyond the character limits noted on each text box. Otherwise, the system may not be able to save the overloaded text. The
system will automatically save any changes you have made, but it is always best
to select the “Save Changes” button at the top or bottom of each screen before
navigating to a different page. Note also that responsibility for filling out
the application completely and accurately rests with the applicant: The online
application system does not check to see that all areas have been filled out
correctly, and the Mansfield Foundation is not responsible for ensuring that
information you have submitted is accurate and complete.
|
| |
| Saving changes and printing preliminary copies of
your work: The online application system is designed to allow you to
fill out your application in multiple sessions. When you click on the “Save
Changes” button, the information you provide will be securely stored in the
system's database; and will not be lost if your computer fails or loses power.
The system allows you to save changes and continue filling out the application
at a later date. You should also download a copy of your Adobe-formatted
application for your own records, and may do so by selecting the “Application
Preview” button at the bottom of your screen.
|
| |
| Moving from page to page: Note that the menu
bar on the left of the online application allows you to move between the
different sections of your application. When using the navigation buttons, the
application system will automatically save changes to the page you have been
working on. However, please continue to use the “Save Changes” button on before
moving to a new page. Any unsaved information will be lost if you lose your
Internet connection before saving your changes. Remember to save changes to your
application frequently.
|
| |
| Working with drop-down menus: In some cases,
we ask that you use "drop-down menus" so that the information is standardized.
Should you not find a needed drop-down item, please email technical support
(select “Technical Support” on the left hand
menu), indicating the precise nature of your request, and how we can contact
you. A new window will appear, allowing you to specify the type of item (e.g.
institution, department, etc.), and a space for you to enter the name of the
item you wish added to the list. Your request will be handled within 24
business hours.
|
| |
| Previewing your final printed application: The
online application system takes the information you have submitted and formats
it for printing. To preview your application in printed form, select the
"Application Preview" button near the bottom of the online application menu. A
copy of your application will be downloaded to the computer you are working on.
Using Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 4.0 or greater) you may print out your
application. If you do not have the software needed to print this file, you may
download a free version of it by clicking on the “Adobe Acrobat” icon at the
bottom of the menu bar in the application area.
|
| |
| Final printout: “Final Printout” refers only
to the online portion of your full application package. You must submit one
original and six hard copies of your entire application packet including all
separate documents, to the Mansfield Foundation by 5:00 p.m. on
April 1, 2012. The submission requirements are also covered in the “Application
Guidelines” document.
|
| |
| Reviewing your work one last time: Before
you click the “Sign and Create Final Draft” button, you will be asked to
confirm that your application is complete and acknowledge that after
you create a final draft of your application, no changes can be made
unless you create a new login name and complete a new application. The final
printed version must agree with the information you have completed online. Both
the required number of copies and any supporting documentation must arrive at
the Mansfield Foundation by 5:00 p.m. on
April 1, 2012.
|
| |
| Sign and download a final copy: Once you
have pressed the “Sign and Download Final Draft” button, an Adobe Acrobat file
will be downloaded to the computer on which you are working, and an email with
a “.pdf” file of your application will be sent to you. (Again, if you do not
have the software needed to print this file, you may download a free version of
it by going to http://www.adobe.com). To be
sure you understand that you cannot make any changes to the document you are
downloading, you will be asked to indicate you have read the following:
|
| |
*I have read and understand the Mansfield Fellowships Online Application
privacy policy.
*I have carefully reviewed the final draft of my application and it contains
all the information I have entered.
*I understand I must submit hard copies of the online application by 5:00 p.m.
on
April 1, 2012, and that after clicking on the “Sign and Download Final Draft” button
below, I may not alter the information I have provided in this version of the
online application form.
|
|
|
| |
| Contacting Us: You may get technical support
at any time by clicking on the “Technical Support”

Fellowship-related questions, please click on the “Contact

application site. In all cases, you will receive a response within 24 business
hours of submission of your question.
